Below you’ll find the key rules and answers to common questions for IF Micro Lite — clear risk limits, a smart drawdown that tightens as you lock in profit, and nothing hidden in the small print.
Smart Drawdown
Your maximum account loss limit starts at 6% and tightens to 3% once you lock in profit.
- Starting limit
- 6% of starting balance (static)
- Lock-in trigger
- +3% gain on Balance (not Equity)
- Post lock-in
- 3% of starting balance
Once your Balance (excluding open trades) reaches +3% of your starting balance, your drawdown limit moves from 6% to 3% and stays there. Equity gains on open trades don’t trigger the lock-in — profit must be realised.
Daily Loss
A cap on how much you can lose in a single day. Breaching it closes the account.
- Limit
- 3% of account value / day
Profit Split
How much of your trading profit you keep.
- Standard
- 80% of net profit
- With add-on
- 90% of net profit
- After a first strike
- 50% of net profit
A first strike — whether from an Account Drawdown breach or a news-window violation — moves your split to 50%. See the Risk Management Toolkit for how strikes work.
Payouts
Payouts run on a 14-day cycle once you meet the conditions.
- Cycle
- Every 14 days
- Minimum withdrawal
- 5% of starting balance
- Consistency rule
- 15% Best Day Rule
- Smart Drawdown
- Must be locked in (3%)
Your best trading day must not exceed 15% of your total profit, your net profit must reach at least 5% of your starting balance, and your Smart Drawdown must have locked in at 3% before a payout can be requested.

Not allowed on IF Micro Lite — a restricted window applies around major economic events.

Built-in safety, not surprises
These limits exist to protect your account and keep a level playing field for every trader. Stay within them, manage your risk, and you’ll trade your way to a payout.
Account Drawdown
A secondary, tighter risk check — separate from Smart Drawdown. If unrealised losses on your open positions exceed 1% of your starting balance, that counts as one strike. A first strike moves your account to a 50% profit split as a warning; a second strike closes the account permanently.
How Strikes Work
Account Drawdown breaches and news-window violations draw from the same strike pool. Your first strike from either rule moves your profit split to 50%; your second strike — from either rule, in any combination — is a breach that closes the account. One Account Drawdown strike plus one news-window strike therefore also results in a breach.
Risk Parameters
Maximum lot limits apply per asset class, and grid trading and one-sided bets are monitored as backstop risk parameters. See Prohibited Practices for the full detail.
Instrument Commissions
Commission-free accounts have no commissions. The rates below apply only to RAW spreads accounts.
- FX
- $5 (R80) / lot
- Metals
- $5 (R80) / lot
- Commodities
- $2 (R32) / lot
- Crypto
- $1 (R16) / lot
- Indices
- ~$2 (~R32) USD-based
Inactivity
If no trade is placed within 60 days of your account purchase, or within 60 days of your last trade, the account is automatically closed.
The following strategies and behaviours are not permitted and may result in account termination or profit removal. They undermine fair evaluation and a level playing field for every trader. See the full policy →
One-Sided Bets
All-or-nothing directional positions that rely on a single outcome instead of managed risk.
Grid Trading
Opening multiple layered positions at set price intervals to build exposure automatically. This includes both traditional grid trading, where orders are placed above and below the current set price, and one-directional grid trading, where multiple positions are continuously layered in the same direction (i.e. order book spamming). Grid-style behaviour is restricted because it can create uncontrolled risk across the account.
Max Lot Violations
Exceeding the maximum total lot size per asset class, with multiple positions in the same category counted together.
News-Window Trading
Placing trades within 4 minutes either side of a major news event. Counts as a strike in the shared strike pool — see the Risk Management Toolkit.
