Everything you need to know about holding trades over the weekend.
OVERVIEW
How weekend holding works
By default, all open positions are automatically closed (flattened) before the weekend. This applies to every account unless the Weekend Holding add-on has been purchased.
No breach occurs when positions are closed this way — it is a built-in system protection, not a rule violation.
Add-on required. Weekend holding is not enabled by default. It must be selected at the time of purchasing a product. If the option is not visible on the product selector, it means weekend holding is not supported for that product.
COMMON QUESTIONS
What is weekend holding / swing trading?
Weekend holding means keeping one or more trades open when the market closes on Friday and carrying them into the following week. Swing trading is a style that relies on this — holding positions for days or weeks to capture larger price moves rather than closing everything within a single session.
Are my positions closed automatically if I don’t have the add-on?
Yes. If the Weekend Holding add-on is not active on your account, the system will automatically flatten all open positions before the weekend closes. This is not a breach — no rules are violated and the account remains active.
How do I get the Weekend Holding add-on?
The add-on is available during the product purchase flow. When selecting your account type, look for the Weekend Holding option in the product selector and include it before completing your purchase. It cannot be added to an account after it has already been created.
What if the add-on isn’t available for the product I want?
If the Weekend Holding option does not appear in the product selector for a specific account type, it means that product does not support weekend holding. In that case, all trades will always be closed before the weekend, regardless of your preference.
Will I be notified before my positions are closed?
Positions are closed automatically by the system at the scheduled time before market close on Friday. It is the trader’s responsibility to be aware of this rule and manage positions accordingly if the add-on is not active.
Does weekend holding affect my drawdown or profit share?
Holding trades over the weekend carries additional market risk, prices can gap when markets reopen on Monday. Any resulting losses still count toward your drawdown limits as normal, so it is important to size positions carefully when holding over weekends.
